Impeccable
When you walk the Metro
alone
She’s always there, just
in front of you.
Impeccable.
In her pride
a stride that echoes loudly
against the decades of porcelain
and other love stories
not your own.
While you navigate these halls
today as a solitary.
She moves just out of
reach, away from you,
and your oppression,
onto the streets above.
Those same streets that you learned to love so
much.
But the days now are a trailing of your hand
against a wall beside you,
tiles cold to the touch. Fingertips longing, holding
only to the companions of Empty Air, and Ghosts
and Dreams and others that stay with you down here
in a life
below the surface of things.
