footshadow
After twenty-five days of calling out, I tried my very
best to find you. It came in the upward
movement of one foot and then the other. Gliding alone through the high snow,
in pursuit of your absence. Under a blue
sky this time, to where I thought you should be.
You were there that day. No longer only in the
gray morning of your last footprints in the spring snow. Eventually melting,
they had left me broken. Only to hold their liquid and the shadows of your feet
close to my crying heart.
You were there that day. Coming when I called
this time, I found you.
