Thumbie!

I was very excited today to come home and find a package from the UK in my mailbox...it was the M9 Thumbie, as made by Steve Barnett.  The lack of a thumb rest on the back of the M8/M8.2/M9 caused a wave of accessory development, most notably the Thumbs Up which mounts in the camera hot shoe, made by Tim Isaac at Match Technical. They are extremely popular and are made in various lengths and shapes depending on one's preferences. There have been some complaints, albeit limited, that the Thumbs Up can place stress on the hot shoe and/or interfere with the electronics. There is also the criticism that they simply block the hot shoe.

The Thumbie is, I feel, a simpler solultion. It simply sticks onto the camera body (and comes off easily, without marring the surface, and you can position it higher or lower depending on what you want. It also looks more like it's 'part of the camera', rather than something bolted on after the fact. And...it's cheaper, by about $90!!  Steve is thorough, fast with shipping, and makes a great product. I'm looking forward to using it!
