OF LONGINGS AND LANDINGS
You as these clouds have structure, shadows. I drift as a man lost above this landscape
and feel the light of your candle. Depth
and definition cast across the softness of you.
I will tell you of the different areas of temperature, tension I feel
through my palms.
Do you see through this window. The secret knowledge of your skin, suddenly
exposed to the air. Like your back, this
Shield country. Forest trees and ancient
granite. Lakes spread out below me. If I poured water on you, there would be
lakes.
In flight as in love I am often afraid. Yet watch as today I float, the clouds around
me your chaotic gentleness. I descend
from the sky. By your candle, or in
sun. But in trust.
